Success is Personal
ONE DAY DECORATING PRESENTS…We Dare You to Succeed!
THE PREFACE:
I began training and mentoring entrepreneurs over 10 years ago after building a successful decorating business of my own. From the beginning, I encouraged my students and mentees to not allow the process of growing their business become overwhelming. The simple approach was and is…not allowing the sun to set without doing one thing for your sun set business. Just one thing every day, and their business would blossom.
If you are reading this, chances are you already have a business or are contemplating starting one. You are eager for the perks that being an entrepreneur brings…work when you want, do what you want to do without asking anyone’s opinion, and make major money. Ah-h-h, but then the reality sets in…this is lonely, frightening, overwhelming…what was I thinking?
The core of your business is the easy part i.e. if you have a decorating business, the decorating is easy, a Realtor finds showing houses easy, a salesperson may find the selling easy. The hard part is what leads to getting that job, client, or sales opportunity. Quite frankly, it is a great deal of work, and many entrepreneurs become overwhelmed with the process, and simply give up. And yet, success is not won by a few big grandstand events, but more by perseverance and diligence.
The One a Day Dare was created for you, a map to success, and a plan that allows you to live your life, but still provide your business what it needs to succeed…attention. Simply commit to one day at a time and act upon what you read. Take the time to keep a success journal as you go. Now let’s get ready to succeed…I DARE YOU!

Success in Personal
DAY ONE MOTIVATION: Success is Personal!
Success, according to the dictionary is “the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors.” I have learned over the years that success is different for all of us. What is your idea of success? Is it based on money, time, or material gains? After all, how do you know when you have reached the level of “prosperous termination” if you don’t know what you are working for? It is kind of like going on a diet…how do you know if you have reached your goal, if you didn’t predetermine what that goal is. Keep in mind that your idea of success may also change as life changes. After all, if you have a young family, success may mean a business that allows you time to run children to events or coach their baseball team. So don’t let anyone else’s concept of success, influence you! Be you, be real, be a Success.
TODAY’S DARE:Write it down and make it Real!
Take 30 minutes to jot down your personal success goal. Base it on number of hours, number of clients and/or dollars. Your goal should be something you can actually track to see if you are achieving the level of success you desire. This is also the time to determine what drives you, is it money, personal joy, or simply the ability to hone your skills. Be practical and real, yet challenge yourself. In other words, you can’t pick 6 figures and only work an hour a week. But if 6 figures is your goal, then set a realistic amount of hours you are willing to work to reach your goal. Are the hours worth the sacrifice of time away from family and friends? No one can make that decision but you. Compare your new goal to last year’s sales. (if applicable) Okay, before you close the book on today’s dare…did you challenge yourself or did you take a conservative approach to ensure success. Step outside your comfort zone and dare yourself to reach new levels.
See you tomorrow!
