DAY SEVEN MOTIVATION: FIND THE JOY
ONE DAY DECORATING PRESENTS…We Dare You to Succeed!
DAY SEVEN
I am blessed with 12 grandchildren. The thing I love the most about grandchildren is they make me feel young. I know that may not make sense to you, because of course, to become a grandmother…let’s face it, you have to be kind of old. But they make me laugh…not the reserved, grown-up laugh we use in polite society. But laughter that makes my cheek muscles hurt and my sides hurt, yep, young laughter. I spend time with them and I remember life should be more about the joy, and less about the driving need to work, work, work! I am also blessed with a few friends who allow me the same luxury of letting my hair down and laugh like I am 14 again.
So, I made a decision this year, everything I do needs to be driven by joy and/or money. I have been reassessing my business and trying to make changes to eliminate the things that cause me stress and focus on the parts that I love. Now let’s be real, there are always going to be things we have to do that are not fun, but I am going to try to do less of them, and laugh more often.
DAY SEVEN DARE-FIND YOUR JOY
Why did you start your business? What motivates you to keep it growing? Is it the love of the process or simply the love of making money?
Today, find 10 minutes, just 10 minutes, to write down a list of the things you love about your business and the things you hate. How can you eliminate the things you hate? Can you have a Virtual Assistant take care of some of your administrative duties? They are cost effective and organized. How about a bookkeeping service to take care of your day to day books?
Perhaps you hate the actual moving of furniture if you offer redesigning or staging, time to look for a moving company to take that stress off you. (yes, up your fees to compensate for this expense)
Now focus on the joy list! Read it, say it out loud, and embrace it. This is why you started your business. Let’s move back to the joy!
The first seven days are over! We need your feedback, are you motivated by the one a day dares? Or does it simply feel like something else to do? We are almost done with a year of dares, are you interested in continuing to receive them?
Help us to do our market research, and tell us would you like to receive them one day at a time, or in an ebook format? We have even considered a blog! What are you willing to pay for this support? Please help us to make some informed decisions. Email us at joanne@onedaydecorating.com and put “one day dare” in the subject line.
