The Color that Sells
One way to add warmth and your personality to any room is to paint the walls your favorite color. While living in a home, it’s great to reflect your style with colors that make you happy. To some people it’s bright red in the dining room, to others it’s sunshine yellow in the kitchen, perhaps it’s soothing lavender in the master bedroom or even bubble gum pink in a child’s room. Some choose not to commit to any color and every wall in their house remains white.
When selling your house, it is important to remove your personal imprints on the house – this can include colors on the wall. As an example, people either love or hate red. Some (probably most) men would not prefer lavender in the bedroom. Not every family has a little girl to enjoy a pink bedroom. White walls leave a room feeling cold. If these colors are on the wall, potential buyers may be tallying dollar signs in their head thinking about how much it will cost to repaint.
We suggest bringing in the beige. Some call it “boring beige”, some call it “Realtor beige”, but we call it “the color that sells.” Beige is a color that typically does not offend anyone. Therefore it is the perfect color to consider when selling your house. It warms up any room and matches any décor style. It isn’t necessary to replace everything with beige. Color can still be applied in a room through artwork, accessories, etc. – all items that will be removed with the sale.
The key is presenting a neutral home so that it appeals to the widest range of buyers – increasing the likelihood of a quicker sale and obtaining top dollar. Painting is a simple, inexpensive solution and an effective tool to help provide a turn-key property.
